National Parks Partnerships, the entity set up by the UK's 15 National Parks in order to create successful partnerships between the UK Parks and businesses, has secured its first major partnership – a five-year deal with Columbia Sportswear that will make them official outfitter of the UK National Parks’ rangers and staff.
The partnership will include a range of activities in addition to the provision of free of charge clothing for more than 2,000 staff. Columbia and the National Parks will work together to create a range of products for sale to the public, with a share of proceeds to the National Parks. They will also develop a range of communications and promotions that will encourage the public to explore and celebrate their National Parks, which are free to enter and enjoyed by more than 100 million visitors every year.
Steve Curl, Chair of National Parks Partnerships, says ‘Columbia are a perfect first national partner for the UK’s National Parks and we applaud them for this enlightened investment. We have been hugely impressed by Columbia’s environmental and ethical commitments as well as their genuine enthusiasm for the UK’s National Parks and plan for long-term support. This partnership will help Columbia to grow their presence and relevance in the UK and we will work alongside them to achieve that.’
Andy Barker, General Manager UK & IR Columbia Sportswear says “At Columbia, our mission is to help people enjoy the outdoors longer. That’s why we consider it our responsibility to be conscientious stewards of our shared environment. Becoming a partner of the UK’s National Parks is unrivalled opportunity to highlight the amazing work conducted by rangers and staff.”
National Parks Partnerships is aiming to secure a small number of national-level partners who, like Columbia, are seeking to reach their objectives through working closely with the UK’s National Parks.
